Making homelessness a brief and rare experience on Whidbey Island

Values:

We believe that every man, woman, and child coming through our programs is a valued community member with a story to tell. No matter their past, or the road that has led them to our door, the Whidbey Homeless Coalition is dedicated to making their experience with homelessness brief and rare.

We are blessed with a generous and collaborative community here on Whidbey Island. After moving here in 2014, I was awestruck at the amount of nonprofit work that was being done in such a small place. So many people give their time, dedication, money, and hearts to organizations from the bridge to the ferry to help our neighbors. To be a part of this circle of giving is why I am incredibly proud and humbled to be President to the volunteer Board of Directors at Whidbey Homeless Coalition.

Providing shelter is both the most fundamental service, but can also be one of the most complicated. Many of our guests have been struggling for so long that ‘normal’ is no longer a thing they can cling to. Untangling what guests need to get them on their best foot forward is no simple task. We at WHC feel blessed to have dedicated, knowledgeable, hard-working, and compassionate staff who make success happen for our guests daily. I am filled with tremendous pride in supporting the work that they do. In addition, we have a strong and diverse board of directors who have walked every path in life and are committed to supporting this mission. And, especially in a year where we are working towards bigger and better ways to serve our guests, we feel so much gratitude for this community of caring that surrounds us.

Thank you for your continued support of our vital mission and for helping us to keep the fire going for those we serve.
