Our Team
Tanya Gran - Executive Director
Long time islander, wife and mother of 6. I found an interest in giving back to the organization that had given myself and my family a second chance. Inspired by the compassion and leadership at Whidbey Homeless Coalition I started working in September of 2019. I am eager to learn new things and meet new people. I found a new passion in working with families and walking alongside them to their new chapter. I have a secret love for drawing and sketching.
Addie Martin - Haven Manager
Addie has been with the Whidbey Homeless Coalition for three years now. Here’s what she had to say about being a part of our team: “Since I've worked at The Haven I’ve learned a lot of respect, patience, and control. Being that I'm from South Carolina and some of us just don’t have that. I came from a very great family, I just choose to go down a different route, which caused me to struggle with homelessness and drug addiction. In 2018 I moved to Whidbey Island from Charleston SC. The move was a big key part in my success of beating my drug addiction and overcoming homelessness. My goal is to show The Guest the kindness and support they deserve, during their stay with us. Outside of work I love to spend time with my family and also doing my make-up.”
Ashley Rowley - Residences Manager
After completing an internship through the Whidbey Homeless Coalition to fulfill my post graduation emphasis in psychology and social work; I started working with the coalition in 2015 an now function as the House of Hope program manager. Before that, I worked 5 years in non-profits as an early childhood educator. I have a passion for working with people, especially families with children. Other special interests of mine include caring for my jungle collection of house plants and hanging out with my family.
Russell Derting - Assistant Haven Manager
As a lifelong Whidbey resident being a part of the community is a large part of living and growing up here. I’ve always been keen to help others in need or just being a good support system for many. It was easy to get started with community work - from joining events in high school to plant trees on HW-20 near Tractor Supply to now being the Assistant Manager of The Haven in Coupeville. Going into 2024 I’m recently engaged so my fiancée and I are very excited for the wedding planning and being able to put our own roots down in Oak Harbor !!! And I’m excited to bring all that positive energy into my work and into the community this year and coming up years.
