Emergency 90-Day Housing

The House of Hope is a communal living space where guests can get back on their feet. It provides a short term residence to help individuals and families transition back to their own home.

If you need immediate housing for the night, that is provided through The Haven

What We Provide

Living space at the House of Hope for you and your family. This includes a private room, with shared bathroom, kitchen, living room, and yard. It is on the Island County Transit bus line. We work with you to connect you with the following services and get needed referrals:

  • Drug and alcohol services

  • Veterans assistance

  • DSHS requirements

  • Mental health

  • CADA advocate

  • DCYF requirements

After housing is found we help you move and acquire the household items needed to be successful. We remain in contact with you to provide help with resources and guidance as needed.

Although the House of Hope is a 90-day shelter we can extend that time frame as long as you and your family are making progress.

What You Provide

You must be employed and willing to save 30% of your income during your stay. There is also a requirement to look for housing weekly, and help maintain the House of Hope. Case managers work with you to develop a family action plan and you must commit to developing and updating that plan regularly.

You must also commit to performing daily chores to keep the House of Hope a safe and comfortable living space, and follow the House Rules.

How it Works

To apply for a room, contact Housing Support Center or call us at 360.708.4533.

  1. In your first call we start the intake process and discuss the house rules. If we do not have a suitable room, we will place you on a waiting list. The house is often full, so please call as soon as you think you may become displaced.

  2. We schedule a time for you, and your family if applicable, to meet with our intake team and to begin the background check.

  3. If the background check shows any arson, domestic violence, or sex related crimes, you are ineligible for housing.

  4. Once approved, you and your family may move in when a room becomes available.
